Cradle Gin Garden is stunning, family-friendly venue located in the Cradle of Humankind, Hartebeespoort, Gauteng, South Africa. The simple, yet elegant tasting room also has lots of lawn space to relax underneath the trees, and is available to hire for private functions and events.

Cradle Gin Garden is the official tasting room of Flowstone Gin, South Africa’s first gin range ever to hold three double gold Michelangelo awards in the same year, also made in the Cradle of Humankind.

After traveling around the world and experiencing gin on completely different levels, the founding Engelbrecht family realized that they wanted to provide this kind of experience to friends and family back home. Each ingredient and product has been carefully chosen to compliment the gin.

A small menu has been carefully created with produce from local farmers within the biosphere of the Magaliesberg. Unique tasting experiences include a tray with miniature gins, garnish, and tonic. Round out your experience with a cheese and cold meat platter for a light lunch.

OUR GIN

Locally crafted in the Cradle of Humankind…

Flowstone was conceived and perfected amid the wonderfully diverse vegetation of the Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site where our earliest ancestors took their first steps, its very name coming from the rock formations that define the area. Drawing its flavours from the rich palette of indigenous bushveld botanicals, Flowstone’s unique gins were crafted to capture the essence of this African wilderness.

BUSHWILLOW

GIN

This is the most striking gin in our range. It is full-flavoured with unusual and seductive woody, earthy notes. The Bushwillow seed pods impart a robust, rich, nutty, warmth that envelopes the mouth.  It is unlike any other gin – anywhere! The taste lingers on the side of the tongue inviting another sip. 

WILD CUCUMBER GIN

This stunning fruit, that grows wild in the Bushveld, delivers wonderful fresh cucumber and lime early in the ripening cycle. Smooth, fresh and clean, to this distinctive and complex cucumber gin.  Clear notes of cucumber combine with an edge of kiwi.  Clear juniper adds middle to high notes.

MARULA

GIN

Marula, the iconic fruit of Africa, has been enjoyed by man and elephants alike over the millennia. Clear Juniper creates the backbone, and floral depth is provided by Bushveld Wild Pear, Dombeya rontundifolia, flowers from Acacia caffra the Bushveld’s delightful Sweet-thorn Acacia, and Buddleja salvifolia.

GIN

The Snuffbox tree, Oncoba spinosa, gets its name from its hard-shelled fruits that traditionally were hollowed out to store precious snuff. The palate offers a superb balance of botanicals, with gentle juniper, tantalising flavors that hint at burnt caramel, cacao, chocolate and an edge of vanilla, all with a distinctive warm malty finish.
